Help & FAQ

Quick answers about the Pedigree Lab: Pedigree Builder, claims, marketplace, billing, tools, and more. Can't find what you need? Contact support.

Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Click Sign in in the top-right of any page, then click Sign up below the form. You'll choose a username (it can't be changed later) and enter your email address and a password. After registering, check your inbox for a verification link and click it to activate your account.

I didn't get the email verification link

Check your spam folder first, since verification emails sometimes land there. If it's still missing, sign in: you'll land on the verification screen, where Resend verification email sends a fresh link (links expire after 24 hours). If that doesn't work, contact support and we'll get you sorted.

I forgot my password

On the Sign In page, click Forgot password? Enter the email you registered with and we'll send a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour for security.

Pedigrees & Lineage

How do I publish a pedigree?

Head to Pedigree Builder and click Add Subject Dog to enter your dog's registered name and sex. Then click the sire and dam boxes: type a name to place a dog that is already on Pedigree Lab, or add a new one, and carry on back through the generations (3G, 4G or 5G). You can also fill the tree from a photo, PDF or link of an existing pedigree.

Click Preview to check the tree, then Publish, review the summary and publish.

Once it's published you can find your new pedigree under My Pedigrees in the dashboard. Publishing needs an active subscription.

How do I edit a pedigree I already published?

From your dashboard, open My Pedigrees, find the pedigree you wish to edit, and click Edit. The edit page starts with the family tree: set or replace the sire and dam with a dog already on Pedigree Lab or a new one, add the new dogs' ancestors, then click Save family tree. The dog's details are below the tree with their own Save. New dogs you add there are created unclaimed, like the ancestors you type into the Pedigree Builder. Two exceptions: once a dog has puppies on Pedigree Lab, its family tree can't be changed, and once a dog has active papers (a certificate, a registered litter, or an approved foundation registration), its sire and dam are locked for everyone, including you. See Why can't I change my dog's sire or dam?. Report wrong parents with the Pedigree Inaccuracy Reporter or contact support. Editing needs an active subscription.

Can I delete a pedigree?

Yes, a pedigree you created in the Pedigree Builder: open it and click Delete pedigree. A pedigree that other dogs list as their sire or dam can't be deleted, and neither can a pedigree that started as unclaimed, even after you claim it; contact us if one needs attention. Deleting needs an active subscription.

What is an unclaimed pedigree?

An unclaimed pedigree is one nobody owns. Most are created when a member builds their own dog's pedigree in the Pedigree Builder (or adds ancestors on a pedigree's edit page) and types in dogs that weren't on Pedigree Lab yet: only their own dog becomes theirs, and the ancestors they added stay unclaimed. Anyone can view an unclaimed pedigree and use it as an ancestor. If it is your dog, claim it with Claim this pedigree on its page or on the Claim pedigrees page; an admin reviews every claim. A pedigree that started unclaimed can't be deleted, even after it is claimed. If its information is wrong, report it with the Pedigree Inaccuracy Reporter.

How do I share a pedigree?

Open any pedigree page and use the share buttons for Telegram, WhatsApp or Facebook, or copy the link. Anyone who opens a shared link sees a clean view of the pedigree, no account needed.

Can I add a video to my pedigree?

Yes, one video per pedigree. In Pedigree Builder, on the Create & Publish form under the photos, upload an MP4 or MOV file (up to 50MB). Videos are reviewed by an admin before they appear publicly; you'll see the review status on your pedigree page in the meantime.

What is COI and how is it calculated?

COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) measures how related a dog's sire and dam are. We compute it using Wright's formula, over 6, 8 or 10 generations. A COI of 0% means no shared ancestors in the tree; higher percentages indicate more line-breeding or inbreeding.

What is the Pedigree Vault?

The Pedigree Vault is private storage for your dogs' and litters' records: photos plus documents such as registration papers and DNA results. Photos (JPG, PNG or WEBP) can be up to 8 MB, and each entry holds up to 20 documents (PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB each). Entries stay private unless you share them: each one has its own share link, Reset Link turns the old link off, and Show docs on share decides whether documents are visible. You can also attach an entry to a Marketplace listing. The Vault needs an active subscription.

What does the Top Ancestors section show?

On a pedigree page, Top Ancestors lists every ancestor that appears more than once within 6 generations, with its share of the dog's COI. The label above the list sums up the breeding: Inbred when an ancestor found on both the sire's and the dam's side is also one of the dog's parents or grandparents, Linebred when the shared ancestors are further back, Outcross when the two sides share no ancestor, and Not enough data when fewer than 14 ancestors are known. A dash in the COI share column means that ancestor adds no share of its own.

Claims & Ownership

How do I transfer ownership of a pedigree?

From your My Pedigrees page, open the pedigree you wish to transfer. You'll find the Transfer button at the top, under the pedigree name.

Enter the new owner's username; they'll get a notification to accept the transfer. They have 30 days to accept; after that the request expires and you can send a new one. You'll get a notification when they accept. My Pedigrees needs an active subscription.

Marketplace

Who processes the transaction for a marketplace sale?

All sales on the Pedigree Lab Marketplace are peer to peer. Pedigree Lab is not involved in the sales transaction in any way. Buyers privately pay sellers, and assume all risks involved in doing so. This site is for advertising only.

How do I post a marketplace listing?

Sign in, open Marketplace, and click Post an ad. Select a category, add a title, description, price, location, contact info, and at least one photo. Listings for dogs, litters, stud service, and frozen straws must be linked to a pedigree on the site, and the title must match that dog's name. Your listing goes live right away; admins remove listings that break the rules.

How do I edit or remove my listing?

Go to Dashboard → My Ads, find your listing, and click it. While a listing is active you can edit its details, swap photos, or remove it. Sold listings can't be edited or removed, because the sale and its reviews stay on record, and expired listings can't be edited.

Removed listings are gone immediately and aren't recoverable.

How do I boost (extend) my marketplace listing?

Active listings can be extended from My Ads or the listing's manage box: each boost adds 15 days in exchange for credits (the price is shown before you confirm; featured listings cost more and always charge). Boosting never changes your ad's type or position, and boosts are non-refundable once applied. A listing can be paid up at most 120 days ahead. If you reach that limit, the dialog shows the date you can boost again. Expired listings can't be boosted; post a new listing instead.

How do I contact a seller?

Open any listing and use the contact info the lister has posted, or click Message seller to open a direct message between you and the lister on Pedigree Lab.

Buyer safety: how do I avoid scams?

Pedigree Lab suggests you exercise extreme caution when doing business online, either here or elsewhere. Check the seller's reviews on their profile (every rating comes from a buyer whose purchase the seller confirmed), and report anything suspicious through our Contact page.

How do seller reviews and “Mark as sold” work?

When you sell through your listing, use Mark as sold on the ad and tag the buyer's username. Mark as sold can't be undone and takes the listing off the Marketplace straight away, so if you sell several puppies from one listing, mark it sold after the last sale and tag each buyer. The buyer confirms the purchase and can leave a 1–5 star review, which appears on your public profile. Only buyers a seller has confirmed can review, so every rating comes from a real sale.

Can people comment on my listing?

Yes. Signed-in users can comment on active listings and reply one level deep. You can delete your own comments, and as the seller you can delete any comment on your own ad. Signed-in users can report a comment to the admins. Comments close when a listing is sold or expires. On a sold listing the comments stay visible; an expired listing, with its comments, can only be seen by you.

How long does a Marketplace listing stay up?

Listings stay live for 30 days. We remind you 3 days before a listing ends, and you can keep it up longer with a Boost from My Ads. If posting or featuring a listing costs credits, the form shows the price before you post. Featured spots are limited, so they go to whoever books them first.

Kennel Pages

What is a kennel page?

A public page for your breeding program at pedigreelab.com/kennel/your-name: logo, banner, description, registries, health testing, social links, featured dogs, videos, your active listings and your reviews. Create it from My Kennel on your dashboard. It's free, with one kennel per account. Your kennel stays private while you build it: Save keeps your progress, and Publish kennel makes it public. After that, Save updates the live page right away. Every published kennel is listed in the Kennels directory (linked at the bottom of every page), where visitors can search by name, location or registry.

How do I share my kennel page?

Your kennel page has its own address: pedigreelab.com/kennel/your-name. Use Copy link (or Share, where your device offers it) on the My Kennel card on your dashboard or next to Edit profile on your kennel page; anyone can share a kennel from the … menu on its page. Pasted into WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook or other apps, the link shows a preview card with the kennel's banner, logo, name and ratings.

Can I put videos on my kennel page?

Yes, up to three MP4 or MOV clips (50MB each), added on your My Kennel page and uploaded when you save. An admin reviews every clip before it appears publicly; until then only you can see it, with its review status. Replacing a clip sends the new one back into review.

How do kennel reviews work?

Only customers you confirm can review your kennel. In the Kennel reviews section, confirm a member and what they got from you (a dog, a litter, stud service or something else). They get a notification, confirm it's really them, and can leave one review of 1–5 stars, editable for 7 days. You can't edit or remove reviews; you can report one that breaks the rules.

Why does my kennel page show two ratings?

The seller rating comes from confirmed Marketplace sales, the same score shown on your listings. The kennel rating comes from the customers you confirmed on your kennel page. They measure different things, so both are shown with their source.

How do I report a kennel page?

On any kennel page, open the … menu at the end of the buttons at the top (after Contact Kennel), click Report this kennel, pick a reason (impersonation, misleading information, prohibited content, spam or something else) and add details if you like. An admin reviews every report; the kennel owner never sees who reported. You can report each kennel once.

What happens when I follow a kennel?

You get a bell notification when the kennel posts a new Marketplace listing, publishes a new pedigree or adds a new video. Several updates of the same kind on one day share one notification. For a new listing you get this notification instead of the general new-listing one, never both. To stop them all, untick Kennels you follow in your Account Settings; you stay a follower. To stop one kennel, unfollow it. Kennel updates are never emailed.

Can I see how many people visit my kennel page?

Yes. Open Stats on the My Kennel card on your dashboard: views over the last 30 days, new followers and likes, your kennel rating, your busiest days and hours, and where visitors came from. Only you can see it. Your own visits, bots and repeat visits within an hour aren't counted, and it never shows who visited.

Why was my kennel name refused?

Three checks run when you save a kennel name. It can't be the same as, or a near-match of, another member's kennel (“Ironline Kennel” next to “Ironline Kennels” is refused, because spacing, punctuation and the word “kennel” don't count). And it can't contain a registry name (AKC, UKC and the rest) or words like “official”, “verified” or “admin”, which suggest a status the platform hasn't given. And a name another kennel used before it was renamed stays reserved for that kennel. Pick something distinct to your program.

Subscription & Billing

What's free and what needs a subscription?

Browsing pedigrees, the Marketplace and kennel pages is free, and so is transferring a pedigree. New accounts start with a short free trial of the premium features. After that, an active subscription unlocks publishing and editing pedigrees in the Pedigree Builder, My Pedigrees, pedigree inaccuracy reports, the Pedigree Vault, and the breeding tools (Bloodline Calculator, Puppy Color Predictor, Whelping Calculator and Trait Matcher). The Subscription page shows the current prices.

What are credits?

Credits are the platform's currency for paid actions: posting, featuring and boosting Marketplace listings, and registry services such as certificates and registrations. Some Marketplace actions only cost credits while credit pricing is switched on. You buy them in packs on the Subscription page; they never expire and stay on your account until used.

How can I pay?

We accept cryptocurrency and card payments through our payment providers. All prices are shown at checkout on the Subscription page. Card details never touch our servers; the payment providers handle them.

Does my subscription auto-renew?

No, never. You are never charged automatically. When your subscription runs out, your account returns to the free tier and the premium features lock until you choose to renew. Renewing before expiry adds the new time on top of what you have left.

Can I get a refund?

Annual subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if you haven't used premium features; credit packs are non-refundable once credited. The full details, including how to request one, are in our Refund Policy.

Community & Contest

Why can't I post links or start new conversations?

To protect members from spam and scams, new accounts have a few limits until they're a few days old and the email address is verified: no links in messages, listings or comments, and only a few new conversations at a time. The limits lift on their own. Accounts that send the same message to many people, or start many conversations in a short time, are suspended automatically. If that happens to you by mistake, contact support.

How do I block or report someone in Messages?

Open the conversation in Messages and use Report or Block at the top. Reports go to the admins. Blocked members can't message you, and you can unblock them later from the blocked-users list in Messages or from their profile.

Reporting & Quality

Someone else claimed a dog that's actually mine

Open the pedigree and click Claim this pedigree in the Ownership section, or go to Claim pedigrees on your dashboard. Tick the dog, explain why it is yours (registration papers, who bred it, when you bought it) and send the claim. An admin reviews it and you get a notification with the decision.

Tools

Account & Settings

How do I choose which notifications I get?

Open your Account page and scroll to Notifications. Each type (support replies, new Marketplace posts, new title alerts, kennels you follow, private messages, pedigree transfers and claimed pedigrees) has its own switch for the site bell and for email; a few types are site-only. Click Save Changes at the top of the page when you're done.

How do I delete my account?

Contact us and ask for your account to be deleted, and we'll take care of it. We remove your email address, username, profile photo and other profile details, and you can no longer sign in. Pedigree records may stay on the site as part of the historical registry, since bloodline data is connected across generations.

Languages

How do I change the language?

Use the language menu at the right end of the top bar (it shows a flag and a short code such as EN) and pick one of the 11 languages. Your choice is remembered in that browser; on a new device the site starts in your browser's language.

Can I read listings and pedigree notes in my language?

Yes. When the site is set to a language other than English and you're signed in, Marketplace ad descriptions and pedigree notes are translated for you automatically. Click Show original to see the text exactly as its author wrote it.
